William & Mary Prepares for First Annual Pride Festival

The College of William & Mary will hold its first annual LGBTIQ Pride Festival on Friday, April 13.
The Pride Festival is planned as part of I Am William & Mary Week, a series of events which aims to highlight the diversity of the college’s community. The festival will feature drag performances, live music and over 30 student and community organizations represented. Sponsors and planners of the Pride Festival include the W&M Lambda, the Women’s Studies Department and the Student Assembly.
“Pride is the essence of being in the College of William & Mary community; not just pride in our school and its history, but pride in ourselves and our own identities,” said festival publicist Emma Caterine. “This event is an unprecedented historic step forward for ourcampus, our city, and our state, proving once again the excellence of the College of William & Mary.”
William & Mary Pride is Friday, April 13, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. on the Crim Dell Meadow, Landrum Drive, Williamsburg, VA.
Zack Budryk, a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, has been writing since age 10 working towards a career of advocacy-based investigative journalism.
