Last week American Apparel Inc. announced it might declare bankruptcy and therefore close its doors. Which means that Richmond, VA may need to say goodbye to its local American Apparel in Carytown.
Supporters of the LGBT community may need to find a new location to purchase supportive “Legalize Gay” clothing and the like. Butt magazines and nude male towels will no longer be readily accessible to local patrons.
American Apparel also said it might fall out of compliance with a credit agreement by Sept. 30. It is working with a lender to amend the agreement, but cautioned that without a reprieve, there may be a damaging financial chain reaction that could force the company to pay both credit lines immediately.
The future of American Apparel is expected to unveil itself by the end of September 2010. In the interim, Richmond locals may need to explore other options outside of iron on t-shirt transfers. Let us know what locations you already frequent to purchase LGBT friendly clothing. GayRVA wants to know!
