Since 2006, Style Weekly, Richmond Parks and Recreation, Art Works, Backyard Farmers, and the Enrichmond Foundation have teamed up to host Richmond’s only Earth Day Festival. The festival takes place every year in Manchester between 1st and 4th streets and seeks to spread knowledge and passion for the environment through fun and educational activities for all ages.
The 2011 Earth Day Festival will showcase the best of Richmond’s green artists, businesses and enthusiasts. Attractions include Richmond’s Fish Festival, 3rd Street sustainable workshops organized by Backyard Farmer, 4th Street artists showcase and demonstrations organized by Art Works, an outdoor gear swap, Green Hero Awards, local food vendors, over 60 exhibitors offering resources and education on our environment, and free music.
Proceeds from the Earth Day Festival benefit Enrichmond, a nonprofit organization that supports Richmond parks, recreation, and cultural activities through citizen involvement, education and fundraising.
For the April 23 event, HandsOn Greater Richmond is looking for volunteers to help in the following areas.
