The Richmond-based company made its first donation of its highest selling underwear for 2009 to the Valentine to help document men’s fashion. Skiviez will provide a yearly contribution of its top seller to help tell the story of Richmond’s clothing history.
The top selling item was a 2(x)ist Contour Pouch Brief in white.
According to Bill Martin, director of the Valentine, “this could over time become an important collection. If for the next 20 years we add to this collection, it would be a major resource for fashion historians.”
Robert Clark, president and CEO of Skiviez, said the idea came from Martin. After a behind-the-scenes tour of the Valentine’s collection, Clark learned that people saved cocktail dresses, wedding dresses, and other formalwear, but not things that you wear everyday.
“The ultimate vision is for future generations to see the trends in men’s clothing.,” Clark said. “What were guys wearing in 2009? “
And that would be one of the items donated. A 2(x)ist Contour Pouch Brief in white.
