The historic Bostic V. Reiny Case scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed according to a press release from American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER).
The case is one of two which challenge the state’s ban on same-sex marriage. AFER is representing Tim Bostic in the Eastern District suite.
Inclement weather is to blame – Norfolk got about a foot a snow. Norfolk based attorney Mike Hamar said court closures can be common, but not usually the higher courts. “Some of the courts closed last week over snow,” said Hamar. “The state courts look for any excuse to close, but the Districts not so much.” Hamar also said the snow in Norfolk made the city almost immobile. ”Other than the main roads, the streets are a mess around here.”
A new court date for the case has not been announced. GayRVA will make that information public when it becomes available.
