“While visibility is important, we must take direct action against transphobia around the world,” reads TDOV’s information page. Started by Rachel Crandall, head of Transgender Michigan, in 2010, TDOV aims to “celebrate the trans community in a positive light” every March 31st.
“Visibility is not enough alone to bring transgender liberation,” reads TDOV’s website about this year’s theme – #MoreThanVisibility. ”Some people experience violence due to their visibility and some others don’t want to be visible. However, we can use visibility as a vital tool for transgender justice.”
