Dougherty will continue to lead ROSMY for a period while the organization searches for a new director.

As Executive Director, Dougherty helped develop ROSMY’s outreach programs including the Institute for Equality, which trains organizations working with out and questioning youth. He also helped bring the organization into Richmond’s mainstream.

In addition to a number of successes, Dougherty was named one of Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 and, on behalf of ROMSY, accepted a Richmond History Maker award for improving social justice from the Valentine Richmond History Center.

“I can’t thank you all enough for your support in our partnership and in our continued growth as a community,” Dougherty said in an email to peers. “On behalf of the organization, I hope you will continue to push ROSMY’s important mission forward so that together we will create a community of acceptance, empowerment and belonging for our GLBTQ youth.”
