A new poll released by MSNBC suggests America would prefer a member of a sexual minority over a member of the Christian majority in the role of Commander and Chief.
The poll was conducted in late April 2015, but compares numbers to past polls as well. While many questions were asked of the 1000 + respondents, among them was a list of possible candidates for president, including one who was gay or lesbian and one who was an evangelical.
By a slight margin, a gay and lesbian president was preferred:
Interestingly enough, this distinction was preferred almost across the board, with the first 2 columns being “Enthusiastic” or “Comfortable” with the idea, while the third and fourth columns were “Have Some Reservations” or “Very Uncomfortable.”
The poll admits a margin of error of ±3.10%, but compare that to the numbers from years passed (included above) and you’ll see what people have been calling a “massive shift in attitudes” manifested pretty squarely before your eyes.
