Despite the negative message, the wave of support behind Richmond’s LGBTQ community has been huge .
So for those of you who reached out to our publication, or to the GCCR, or to any of the other groups in town who are involved in helping sexual minorities, NOW’S YOUR CHANCE TO DO SOMETHING.
The Gay Community Center of Richmond will hold a photo shoot at their building - 1407 Sherwood Avenue – this Sunday at 3:15 PM.
The photo could be used in a billboard showing support for the LGBTQ community, and it should be a great chance to come out and be a part of something.
Everyone in town – lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, questioning, straight, etc. – is invited to come take part in the shoot.
“Does the billboard make you angry? Want to respond?” said Bill Harrison, the GCCR’s Executive Director, in a statement sent out today. “You are invited to participate in a group photo that will be used to counter the “No One Is Born Gay” billboard message. The picture will be used through social media and other forums and will also be considered for billboard use.”
The photo will be taken in the event parking lot located at the east end of building.
