Applications are now available for positions on the 2010-2011 GLSEN Richmond Chapter Board. All board positions are working positions with responsibility for a particular area contributing to our Mission. Per GLSEN National policy, applicants who are selected must undergo and successfully pass a police background check before the board appointment is final. A copy of the written application is attached to this email – a hard copy can also be sent by postal mail upon request to this email address. Completed applications are due by Wed. June 30th at 5 pm. Preferred method of return is by email attachment – however postal mail may also be used to GLSEN Richmond, P.O. Box 5181, Richmond VA 23220. Applicants must be able to attend a GLSEN Richmond Board meeting for an applicant interview – our next meeting is scheduled for Sun. July 11th, 1 pm, Gay Community Center of Richmond. Chapter Co-Chair – responsible for overall operations of the chapter
Chapter Secretary/Treasurer – takes & distributes minutes of chapter meetings; maintains fiscal operations & prepares quarterly and annual financial reports to GLSEN National.
Public Education and Outreach – coordinates overall public presentations and training activities of the chapter; coordinates tabling outreach activities
Chapter web page/email newsletter – maintains chapter web page on national chapter site; creates and publishes a chapter email newsletter
Gay-Straight Alliance Liaison – maintains support services for GSA clubs in central Virginia schools, including planning GSA Summits
Chapter Volunteer Coordinator – responsible for recruiting volunteers and their training, assignments, etc.
School Policy Change – works with in-system resources to effect policy changes in local schools
Fundraising Coordinator – responsible for planning & carrying out a variety of fundraising activities to support chapter operations and activities.
GLSEN is the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Educators Network. GLSEN works to address anti-LBT behavior and bias in schools through advocacy and working with high school Gay-Straight Alliances.
