George Mason University’s law school made an announcement last week that it would be rebranding itself “the Antonin Scalia School of Law” in order to honor the Former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court (who never had a kind word to say about the LGBTQ community.)
Things didn’t go as planned, however, as it was brought to the administration’s attention that the acronym for the school would then be “ASSoL at George Mason University.”
If Twitter had somehow managed to keep its mouth shut, the name may have remained unchanged:
The Washington post reports the college will now be called The Antonin Scalia Law School (ASLS), which isn’t half as fun.
“While it is the University’s prerogative to make the name change, I am deeply concerned about the message this sends,”
