Country superstar Dolly Parton is an icon in a world often assumed to be conservative and traditional, but in a new interview, the 68-year-old country legend expressed support for same-sex marriage in a way only Dolly could.
“I think everyone should be with who they love,’ Parton told the UK’s Daily Mail. ‘I don’t want to be controversial or stir up a bunch of trouble but people are going to love who they are going to love… I think gay couples should be allowed to marry. They should suffer just like us heterosexuals. Ha ha ha!’
Parton mentioned her stance in a long interview published earlier this week. The singer also discusses her relationship with her childhood friend Judy Ogle and what squirrel taste like.
