Bathroom laws that deal with how and where a transgender person is supped to answer nature’s call can be hard from some folks to understand. As with the broader LGBTQ movement, it helps if those who are confused about the issue could end up meeting someone effected by the law – but that’s not always an option.
But in the hopes of educating people, HRC has teamed up with some North Carolina-based and national doctors to explain exactly what laws like HB2 do – stigmatize and hurt a population that is already targeted for their differences.
“Nowadays, people are fearful and feel like they are challenging their own way of thought, or their own standards or rules or life,” said Dr. Deanna Adkins, a pediatrician in North Carolina. “That is not at all what the youth are trying to do. They just want to be them, and they want to be happy.”
