Equality Virginia sent this announcement yesterday afternoon regarding Jon Blair leaving the agency:
Equality Virginia announced today that it has accepted the resignation of Jon Blair as Chief Executive Officer effective April 30, 2010, and that long-time EV board member, Jean Segner, will be serving as interim Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. Ms. Segner, who chaired EV’s very successful Commonwealth Dinner this year and last, will fill this role as a volunteer and without compensation.
James Parrish and Mardi Krantz will continue as staff for EV and Claire Guthrie Gastanaga will continue to serve as EV’s legislative strategist and general counsel. EV plans to conduct a national search for a new Chief Executive Officer beginning sometime later this summer.
“Mr. Blair’s resignation was unsolicited, unexpected and without notice,” said Mark Board, chair of the EV Board of Directors. Mr. Board added, “EV is fortunate to have board members ready to step up and staff members committed to continuing their excellent work.” “The continuity of leadership offered by Jean Segner and our current staff ensures that EV will continue to move forward effectively changing laws and changing lives,” he concluded.
GayRVA reported yesterday that Jon Blair has taken a position as campaign manager for Alaskan gubernatorial candidate Ethan Berkowitz. In an previous interview with GayRVA, he discussed his professional background in campaigning.
Blair joined EV January of last year.
