Richmond is full of working people, and sometimes these people neglect to dress to impress for work. I noticed an abundance of ensembles that were lackluster and demanded no attention. No matter where you work, always strive to set yourself apart from the masses. Below are some Richmonders at work dressing to impress!
Like i said before, when it comes to creating an ensemble that works for you, color is key.FInding the right blend of colors can take an outfit from boring to eye catching. Many are limited in fashion risks they can take in the workplace, and have to find innovation where they can. Take this guy for example.
By choosing a rich brown, almost mauve button-up that compliments his skin tone to a T, he is taking an everyday look and turning up the volume. The tie’s brown, white and blue coloring is a fantastic light contrast to the brown of the top, and who does not love a guy in a tie?
The khaki colored dress pants with a subtle pinstripe are a good color choice. Black pants would darken the ensemble too much, and by adding a deep cognac brown belt, he is breaking up the look and making it work for him.
Brown shoes complete the look and tie all the colors together.
While downtown i came across this Richmonder coming back from the river. Although not a working outfit, i simply couldn’t not write about this look.
The whole look is very Richmond and very classic at the same time. With the rounded cat eye glasses that i think every woman should try, the pixie haircut that I so desperately wish I could pull off, and the shoes that are so classic 50′s style, she nailed it.
I am a BIG fan of nautical striped looks, and this one might be one of my favorites. The silhouette of the dress is very simple and Audrey Hepburn-esque in the fact that it contains straight lines throughout the look with a clean cut boat neck and three quarter length sleeve. The fit of the dress is perfect with a great summer length and a loose, casual fit.
The tan backpack is a functional accessory that i really enjoy. Small leather backpacks are a new fashionable alternative to the purse.
