RVA Street Style
More and more Richmond natives are displaying their signature styles for us to embrace. Here are a few standouts.
This outfit is more tailored, but still casual with a bit of James Dean in the mix. The outfits color’s read very well together. By wearing a darker wash denim, you automatically look more put together and tailored. Generally, unless distressed is the look you are going for, lighter wash denim cheapens a look.
When it comes to Men’s skinny jeans, people often go too tight or too loose. These jeans are a happy medium between the two fits and create a very flattering silhouette. The brown belt creates a great accent color that breaks up the lines of this outfit. By wearing a basic fitted white v-neck shirt under an unbuttoned plaid shirt, an effortless cool is achieved.
The colors in the shirt are muted and faded, giving the whole ensemble a more rugged appearance. The desert boots in a sand color are a great item for both men and women’s wardrobes. The boots are comfortable and fashionable and can be found at stores like Urban Outfitters.
Aviator shades are used to complete this outfit. For a hot weather alternative to this ensemble trade the jeans in for a pair of fitted jorts and trade the Tee for a white tank top. The plaid shirt is a lightweight fabric that breathes in the heat and can be removed depending on the situation.
I am a HUGE fan of this next outfit. The look is absolutely ideal for summer nights with a breeze, like the past few nights. This crop top from South Moon Under has amazing colors throughout that are on trend with the Navajo and heritage looks dominating the fashion world. The length is great with pants, as seen here, or with high waisted skirts or fitted body con dresses underneath.
A feature of this top not visible in the picture is the length in the back, which is longer in a tuxedo-esque fashion. White jeans are a great summer item for creating a fun and light outfit. The distressed denim is youthful and trendy, making it a great addition to the top. By adding a brown belt, the outfit is broken into two separate parts, which is necessary when pairing two white items in one ensemble.
These boots by Steve Madden resemble styles from the Edwardian era with a new fun twist. The height and laces are unique and create a comfortable and flexible fitted boot. They look great with shorter dresses and shorts as well, making them a great investment. Whoever said that boots were strictly for winter, was seriously disturbed. Small finishing touched placed on the outfit include white feather earrings that go along with the shirt’s Navajo appearance.
