The Rainbow Bowling League is the longest-running LGBT sports league in Richmond. It’s a great way to have lots of fun, meet new folks and have some friendly competition.
We’re getting ready now for the next season. You do not need to be a good bowler to participate. I certainly wasn’t when I started two years ago. This is a handicap league. That means that each bowler is awarded extra pins based on his or her average to make competition against even very good bowlers an even proposition.
The league is fully accredited by the US Bowling Congress, and awards cash prizes for individual performance and team rankings. Each team should have four members, although substitutes are often available. The season runs from September through April on Wednesday each week, excepting holiday weeks. It’s easy to get involved, and with a full calendar of great fun and social activities, you’ll have a fabulous time!
The organization meeting for the fall league will be August 25 at 6:30 pm at AMF Sunset Lanes on West Broad Street. No commitment or team is required and all that attend bowl free that evening. For more information, contact Craig Phillips or Jay Squires.
