Justin’s Top 5 Gift Picks
The holidays are right around the corner and finding that perfect gift can be a source of stress for a lot of us. The funny thing is how the hardest people to shop for are those that we are closest to – that special someone that you still haven’t gotten a gift for yet.
Here’s my list from expensive to small somethings to let that special person know you care (I can taste the sugar on my teeth after writing that – ha!)
Make something special
This gift would be the most caring, despite its non-existent price tag (I’m thinking a win-win people!). Everyone has some sort of talent that they can share with someone they care about. For example, I am always going over and over in my head what to get my best friend. This year I resolved to paint her a picture. The biggest cost with be the canvas and I’m hoping she’ll love it – or it can decorate her closet. Either way, I know she’ll tell me it’s the best gift ever. ($5-10)
It really is the gift that keeps on giving. Whether it be a hangover at the holiday party or a great drunken night, alcohol is a great gift for someone. It’s personal enough – as long as you pick up the right brand. And most importantly it shows them that you care about helping them make great times they won’t remember – maybe that’s just my experience. ($15-40)
This is the obligatory – “baby I care about you, but I have no idea what you want for Christmas!” – gift. The thing about this gift is that since it’s for that special someone, you need to make sure you spend at least $50.
I mean if you pick up that sweater, it could pass for $75 – but the jigs up with the price on the gift card. The upside here; no returns! Unless you know the person’s favorite store (mine’s JCrew, hint, hint), then go with one of those Visa gift cards. You can use them just about anywhere. ($50-100)
Cologne, watch or higher ticket item
These are all great staple gifts. Who wouldn’t want a good smelling cologne or nice timepiece. I’d say this gift is definitely for someone that knows his or her partner well enough. These cost a bit more and are very personal. If you’d like a start I love Burberry Touch and Timex watches are classic –timeless if you will (I hope you all caught that horrid pun). ($100-250)
This is for the ballers out there! Now, I know this is really expensive! This thing has no competition and it’s the Tickle-me-Elmo of 2010! I think this one explains itself, but I will say, since you’re at baller status buying this, how about seal the deal and buy an iTunes gift card for all those cool apps. And note to the person receiving this gift…. you own BIG…. and you know what I mean! ($500)
