Interiors are showing their wild side in 2011! Get your safari hats ready; the rich and exotic looks from around the world are making their way into interiors across the US.
Color trend: Peacock.
That beautiful and rich deep-teal color most associated with the brightly plumed peacock is going to be the new fun color making its way onto fabrics, walls, and accessories in the next few months. For a very bright and dramatic look, try paining your walls peacock. I recommend Benjamin Moore’s “Jade Garden” (2056-20) for that truly bright punch. If you’re not into high drama with your wall color try Benjamin Moore’s “North Sea Green” (2053-30) for a more toned-down version.

Not ready to commit to this bold color over your whole room? Try upholstering a piece of furniture in a fabric that features this color. Ottomans make perfect pieces to add a trend color. They can be changed for little investment, and ottomans are those unique pieces that never need to match other items in the room—so have fun with them!
Still easier to change are accessories. Over the next few months look for more and more accessories like lamps, vases, picture frames, and tchotchkes in bright peacock hues appearing on shelves from Target to Saks. For an even bigger bang for your buck, thrift store finds make excellent accents when painted with a fresh coat of peacock paint.
