It’s been raining all day and as your current reigning recipe queen I thought it would be a perfect time to share with you my top five rainy day treats: (None of which require you to actually “cook” anything!)
Nothing is more beautiful that watching the bubbles spring from a freshly popped bottle and the rain gently falling outside. And the frigid temperatures outside work just like a giant ice bucket in case the power goes out. It’s a win-win situation really, and if you’re sloshed by the afternoon who cares?!
2. Oreo Cookies
You’re going to want to snack while you’re trapped in the house, so indulge. Nothing reminds me more of my childhood.
You pick the variety, but they’re a must have. I usually go with Pringles, no real reason other than I always liked they funny commercials they would put together. Advertising always wor….oh look something sparkly! Wait, focus Natasha, FOCUS!!!!
4. Mary Angela’s Pizza
Have it delivered so you don’t have to go outside. You can have it for dinner, then munch on it all the next day. Simply put it in the oven in the box and you’ve got a slice semi-warmed whenever you want it. (This only works if you have a gas oven, those electric ones are as cold as ice and worthless if you ask me.)
This will be the only one that requires you to do some “work”, but it’s a rainy day classic direct from my childhood!
5. Homemade Ice Cream
2 cups crushed ice
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup milk
Crush up ice and place a large, clean bowl. Stir in sugar and vanilla to taste, then stir in just enough milk for the desired consistency. Serve at once.
Did you just scream like a 12 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert that I actually gave you a recipe for ice cream? Yeah, you can thank me later…
