For some people, receiving gifts doesn’t always mean they have to be new or glamorous. Especially if the gift that is being given consists of clothes. Sometimes, vintage or gently worn clothing is more exciting than just receiving a plastic gift card to a store. These clothes have a history and add a personal touch to any holiday, even Christmas.
Located on Harrison Street, not far from VCU, lies a hip and vintage clothing store. Rumors, is a premiere thrift boutique that buys, sells and trades pre-loved clothing for both men and women. With the holidays drawing closer, it means opportunities for rocking clothing to wear to holiday parties or other events.
“For guys, it’s denim jackets, plaid shirts and pearl snaps,” Mary Heffley of Rumors, said. “For girls, we’ve been selling a lot of dresses and a lot of shoes, a lot of boots. We get in new boots to replenish the merchandise every once in awhile.”
Customers can enjoy the two-story building filled with sweaters, dresses, skirts, button downs, blouses, shoes, purses and other accessories. They have even a corner full of vinyl recorders and other forms of music.
Don’t know what to get that special someone but they enjoy vintage clothing? Get them a store credit card –that acts like a gift card- to Rumors. It gives everyone the chance to dig through some tacky Christmas sweaters, sequined-covered dresses and some awesome jewelry!
