As we enter the last days of fashion week, let’s recap what we’ve seen and trends we’ve been spotting for Spring 2014.
Hair parted down the middle with slick, low ponytails or short blunt banged bobs have been the two most popular hairstyles that we’ve seen thus far.
Nail trends: nude or bare nails in natural, short shapes. The makeup has been very natural or nude eye shadow colors with bold eyebrows and bold lip colors.
Lines, prints, symmetry and asymmetry were also important in designer lines. Between September 10th and 11th Rodarte, Vera Wang, Escada, Oscar de la Renta, Elie Tahari, Narciso Rodriguez, Michael Kors, J. Mendel, Rachel Zoe and Proenza Schouler presented their lines. Some of favorites from day 6 and 7 were:
Although Alan’s line was very simple as far as print and design, the attention on fabric and romanticism was prevalent. This collection was very light fabrics made in soft palettes. The items were cut in such a way that the fabric draped and flattered the body shape. The models had very full hair that looked as if it had dried naturally.
Marchesa’s collection was romantic elegance. There were sheer cutouts, laser cut feathered fabric, tiered skirts all in sheer fabrics that were detailed with exquisite embroidery. The color palette was in soft golds, blues, grays and blacks. The models had pieces of fringed fabric in their hair that created the illusion of wind in the hair. The hairstyle was paired with nude eye shadow and deep purple lipstick.
Androgyny came in white, green, pink and gray in this collection. Button-ups with sheer cutouts, pantsuits with wide leg trousers and oversized blazers were staples in this runway collection. The models wore white or silver metallic sandals. Although androgynous, the fabrics were still very feminine in the drapery, transparency and the cut. The models had hair parted down the middle and pulled straight back with nude lipstick, eye shadow and blush.
