The group is led by Suzanna Mallow (also of nationally-renowned duo Red Letter Day), who has received seven WAMA (Washington Area Music Association) nominations, including “Best Rock Band” and “Best Female Vocalist.” She has toured the U.S. extensively, including periods on the Folk, Arts, & Women’s Festival Circuit and the NACA College Circuit, and has performed with Dar Williams, Edwin McCain, Jann Arden, John Wesley Harding, Little Feat and The BoDeans.
At Mallow’s side are soul-singer Angie Travers and lead guitarist Colleen Clark. Together, the three present an impressive variety of musical genres (including rock, blues, funk, and bluegrass) held together by clean three-part vocal harmonies. Each member offers multi-instrumental talents that effortlessly support the group’s solid songwriting abilities.
As a trio, The Zen Monkeys tour the east coast and have performed on many large stages, including the main stage of Capital Pride 2010. They are currently recording their first album, slated for release in 2011.
