After an impressive expansion that has brought national attention, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, announced that it will stay open 365 days out of the year.
The museum and its cafes and gift shop will hold shorter hours during most major holidays from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. The VMFA will also remain open until 9 p.m. on Friday in addition to extended hours on Thursday.
“This past Memorial Day, we had more than 1,700 visitors, demonstrating that the community is eager to embrace the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as a holiday destination,” director Alex Nyerges said in a stament. “Now that the public has more reasons than ever to visit the museum, they will also have more opportunity than ever to do so.”
The VMFA reopened in May with a $150 million expansion.
