Just in from the folks at Hampton Roads Pride! The big event, happen Saturday. June 17th at Nortfolk’s Town Point Park, will feature music by the legendary Village People and Martha Wash.
Hampton Roads Pride, also known as PrideFest 2017, will also feature family fun and games, local LGBT History, the nation’s only Pride Boat Parade, local performers, and delicious food & drink vendors.
Michael Berlucchi, president of Hampton Roads Pride, and the LGBT organization’s board members announced the news at its monthly meeting at WHRO in Norfolk.
“We’re excited to celebrate 29 years of Pride in Hampton Roads at PrideFest 2017,” said Berlucchi. The theme this year is “Out, Loud and Proud” and he said Martha Wash and the Village People personify that message.
“We can’t wait to share this free concert and festival experience with everyone in Hampton Roads,” he said.

The heart and soul of dance music, two-time Grammy nominated, Martha Wash has dominated the airwaves, and her charisma and spirit has embraced millions of people around the world. Recipients of a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the one-of-a-kind Village People celebrates it’s 40 anniversary in music this year. The group is synonymous with dance music and its impact has earned the title “Kings of Disco.” The group has sold more than 100-million recordings worldwide with songs including, “Y.M.C.A”, “Macho Man”, “In the Navy”, and “Go West”. These six, talented men combine energetic choreography with outrageous fun for all ages! The Village People’s music provides entertainment for everyone and will have you singing & dancing.
