The Firehouse Theatre hosts a benefit reading of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, for two nights only, March 27 & 28 at 8:00 p.m.
Proceeds from the performances will benefit RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Networks). A reception held prior to each show at 6:45 will feature food from local restaurants and musical guests Lydia Ooghe, Alison Self and the Bird and Her Consort. The suggested donation is $20 at the door.
The monologues will be performed by local women and is also part of V-Day, a global campaign to stop violence against women and girls.
Despite the fact that one in three women have abortions in their lifetime, the long-standing stigma surrounding the procedure still persists.
