It’s been three years since we last got a record from London’s Bloc Party, but they’re back with a preachy/dancey new track, “The Love Within.”
Bloc Party reigned in a time when Euro dance music had hit a commercial peak – remixes from Boyz Noise and Justice, and the success of bands like LCD Sound System paved the way for this UK group to make waves.
You may have danced with a stranger to their classic track “Banquet” off of their debut album, 2005′s Silent Alarm.
But as that movement faded, Bloc Party – Kele Okereke (vocals, guitar), Russell Lissack (guitar), Justin Harris(bass) and Louise Bartle (drums) – hasn’t stopped trying to revive themselves on dance floors around the world.
Yes, the lineup has changed much to the dismay of some fans – and I’m not 100% on how I feel about this new track.
It lacks a certain energy and individuality I’d come to expect from Bloc Party. Lets face it, it sounds like The Killers. And that’s great for fans of The Killers! But not great for fans of… Bloc Party.
Check out “The Love Within” Below, and keep an eye out for their as-yet-untitled fifth album, due for release in early 2016.
