First Fridays Art Walk
Hit the street at First Fridays Art Walk from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., rain or shine. Tour the galleries and restaurants from east of Belvidere to west of 8th and through Jackson Ward and Monroe Ward. For more information on participating shops, restaurants and venues, visit here.
Augustfest at Gallery5
Gallery5 presents Augustfest – a celebration of Virginia Microbrews from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event is free to everyone, however, only 21+ can enter the tasting floor. Each ticket for tasting is $1. Expect new micro brews from Starr Hill, Legend Brewing Co., Roanoke Railhouse Brewery, Blue Mountain Brewery, Blue Mountain Barrel House, O’Connor Brewing Co. and Bull and Bones Brehaus. Gone to the Birds Festival
This Saturday, watch thousands of Purple Martins fly to roost in the Bradford Pear trees of Shockoe Bottom and the 17th Street Farmers Market. Try purple gelatto or grab dinner at a nearby restaurant. For more information, go here.
Watermelon Festival in Carytown
Eighty musicians and more than 100 exhibitors round off the 28th Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival. Proceeds from all watermelon sales go directly to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing since the event will be stretched out over a mile of Carytown.
Rad Bromance at the Camel
Rad Bromance will be performing an all male rock tribute to Lady Gaga. The doors open up at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $8. The Camel is located at 1621 W. Broad Street.
