The Magnetic fields, in addition to being indie legends, are headed by openly gay songwriter Steve Merritt.

Merritt has used the Magnetic Fields as a framework for his many musical ventures – albums slide between folky accustic love songs to moody, brutal, noisy… love songs.

It’s pretty much always about heart break or ending the status quo – 2 things I appreciate.

I was going to try and write something positive and uplifting on this sunny Wednesday, but man, I’ve ended up listening to MF for the last 20 minutes and now i’m kind of ruined emotionally and creatively.

Thanks Merritt – your music is too powerful.
