Richmond Young Writers offering fall workshops for LGBTQ youth

AmyDavid | October 14, 2016

In an effort to provide  a safe space for LGBTQ youth to express their experiences, the Richmond Young Writers organization will offer writing workshops starting this weekend.

Since 2009, Richmond Young Writers have been getting young people involved in creative writing through workshops taught by professional writers in the community,

These fall workshops will allow LGBTQ and their allies the chance to empower themselves through discussion, education and writing on their own stories according to their site.

Michael Todd will be leading the discussion for the workshops, entitled Beyond Pink and Blue, which will commence this Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 am-12 pm and run through the 29th. The workshops are geared toward youth 12-16 and cost $80. You can learn more and register here. The workshops are held next door to Chop Suey in the Richmond Young Writers’ writing room in Carytown.
