Throw on a flapper dress, striped suit or your fanciest Great Gatsby-esque garb and step back into the roaring ’20s for Richmond Business Alliance (RBA)’s fundraiser for Virginia Pride this Thursday.
Hosted at Grandstaff & Stein Book Sellers in Shockoe Bottom, a password is needed to be granted access to the speakeasy. Grandstaff & Stein will be serving ‘Made with PRIDE’ cocktails during Happy Hour from 6:00 – 8:00pm at their cash bar. Light appetizers will also be available.
Donations to Virginia Pride can be made at the event. In addition, tickets are being sold for $5 each for a 50/50 raffle where half of the prize money will be going to VA Pride and the other half to a lucky winner. Any other donated items will also be raffled off to raise funds for VA Pride.
Prizes will be plentiful at the fundraiser, which include handcrafted necklaces and earrings from Diversity Thrift, a $200 gift certificate to local restaurant Shagbark, two tickets to each of six performances of the Richmond Triangle Players’ 25th Anniversary Season, a gift bag with a Richmond Region Tourism Attractions Guest Pass for two (which includes 50+ area attractions), OutRVA t-shirts, as well as other prizes from Richmond Region Tourism and OutRVA.
“Around $2,000 worth of items and services [will be] given away in the raffle drawings,” said Perry Franks, RBA coordinator behind the event.
Entry is free for those who pre-register before noon on the 27th, when the password will be sent to your email.  For those unable to register, the entry fee is $5 at the door.
Grandstaff & Stein Book Sellers is located on 2113 E. Main St. and parking is available in the Glaive & Holmes Architecture marked lot on 21st between E. Main and E. Franklin behind Whisk as well as on the street near the restaurant.
