I’m kind of back and fourth on the modern devotion to the 90′s sound. I was literally alive and smoking weed to bands like Pavement and Soul Coughing when they were still releasing records – I was there, and it was amazing.
As the younger folks seem to crave nostalgia (we did the same thing, remember blow up furniture?) the bands that fall out of that craving end up in to one of two categories: the ‘trying-too-hard’ or the ‘freak’n-nailing it.’
I’m happy to report the folks in PWR BTTM fall into the later and have absolutely nailed that 90′s sound on this new track, appropriately named “1994.”

This song could have fallen off the Clueless OST and have not skipped a beat.
The queer punk duo of Ben and Liv will join Mitski (Don Giovanni/Double Double Whammy) and Palehound (Exploding In Sound) on tour this fall. Charly Bliss, Fern Mayo, and Kississippi plays the Ugly Cherries record release show next Friday at Brooklyn’s Silent Barn.
