The memories of weekend road trips for a taste of D.C. nightlife may remain, but the club will not.
According to Metro Weekly, Apex has closed. The 18+ establishment shut its doors after being in business for 25 years. The owner has put the club up for sale and according to the Washington, D.C. publication, the closure came suddenly.

”We knew it was for sale,” bartender/manager Robert Gordon said today from the road, on his way back to D.C. from New York. He added that he’s been advised that the locks have been changed and that arrangements are being made for former staff to collect personal effects.
Just after Christmas, the Washington State Human Rights Commission adopted new policies allowing transgender individuals access to use public restrooms and locker rooms according to the gender they identify with.
