Working as a DJ in the DC metro area since 2002, Erin Myers, also known as DJ Lil’e, will make an appearance at The National on Friday December 3, 2010. She brings to the table a mix of some of the most beloved artist in the LGBTQ community: Lady GaGa, Madonna, and M.I.A.
Myers landed her first start in Washington D.C. at The Black Hat. She is the host of a party called Right Round, full of 80’s alternative pop dance music. On the heels of her successful themed dance party, she launches her new (diva battle) set-list between our favorite divas.
GayRVA.com had an opportunity to interview Myers last week to talk about her start in the industry, her set-list, music, and inspiration. “ . . . I’m really shy by nature,” said Myer who told us that her biggest fear is an empty room. Though that has yet to happen to her; in fact, she sold out her latest event at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C.
Myers isn’t afraid to share her set-list with people. The component in the life of a DJ that would seem the most proprietary, Myers openly shares with her fans. “If people want to use my set and create a play list, they can,” Myer said. She went on to explain that her role isn’t to just hit play on the set-list that took her 3 hours to create. “I’m in control,” she chuckled. Opposite her normal introvert personality, she steps into a different persona on stage. She no longer hides in the corner of the party – she brings it. “It’s about bringing people to the dance floor and keeping them there,” she continued. “A play list alone can’t do that.”
GayRVAGuy and GayRVAGirl on twitter will be checking out the dance party this Friday. We want to take some of our followers with us, so we are giving away a pair of tickets to the show. Here’s how to enter to win: Tweet @GayRVA the most embarrassing place you’ve been caught singing a Lady GaGa, Madonna or M.I.A. song. A winner will be selected by 9 PM EST.
