We’re all about contrast here at GayRVA. And what provides better contrast than modern pop music?
First, Katy Perry has released a new single, “Roar,” from her anticipated “Prism” album scheduled for release in Oct. of this year.
The video is a neat little “lyric” video done entirely through text messages and emojis. It’s got some power too it – “Roar” seems unabashed in it’s mission to inspire – even using the line “eye of the tiger.” I’m sure we’ll hear it more in the future, and we’ll be sure to let you know if we hear anything between now and then.
Up next, Nine Inch Nails has released their second single from their upcoming “Hestitation Marks” album.
Personally I’m of the camp that NIN hasn’t put out anything decent since 1999′s the Fragile. And sadly, this song sticks to that trend. Though Trent Reznor (NIN’s lead singer) still does put on one hell of a live show – ironically playing mostly old songs.
