“Random Access Memories” is set to release May 21st and promises some exciting collaborations with US and international artists. Nile Rodgers (70′s band Chic), Giorgio Moroder(Produced Donna Summers songs), Chilly Gonzales, DJ Falcon, Panda Bear (Animal Collective), Pharrell (N.E.R.D) , Julian Casablances (The Strokes) have all been confirmed, and the first single “Get Lucky” featuring Va Beach’s own Pharrell was leaked onto French radio stations on Monday, but was later said to be a fake.
Daft Punk had been laying low for the most part since the release of Human After All. The did tour in 2007 and released a tour album “Alive 2007,” which marked the 10-year-anniversary of their first live album, “Alive 1997.” They produced the Tron Legacy Soundtrack to some acclaim, though it was generally believed the movie and soundtrack needed to be experiences together, making the soundtrack less exciting and less dramatic in the realm of full Daft Punk releases.
With collaborators who have a history of successful disco and dance tracks going back 50 years, this is sure to be a unique and exciting album release. And hopefully, there wont be any dubstep.
