Although George Clooney directed this film and has a major role, it’s really Ryan Gosling’s movie. He plays a sharp, young press secretary to an idealistic Presidential candidate (Clooney) during the final days of a major primary. The story’s revolves around the machinations of the campaign, the hard decisions that must be made and the politics behind politics. There’s no action here, just an involving plot, intelligent dialogue and a terrific cast. A smart, well-made film.
GAY ANGLE: No gay characters, but the candidate does defend gay marriage. It’s also the 2nd recent movie that keeps Gosling’s shirt on.
Jerry Williams reviewed movies for WTVR-TV for 14 years and for Style Weekly for 10 years. When he launched his own website in 1998 at TVJerry.com, he took his reviews to the Internet. Through those hundreds of reviews, Jerry kept his sexual orientation muted. So, he's excited to be adding "gay angles" to his postings for GayRVA.com.
