Movie Review: Conan The Barbarian

Jerry Williams | August 26, 2011

There was no reason to reboot this fantasy adventure classic, but here it is. Jason Momoa plays the sword-wielding savage who travels across mythical times to reek revenge for his father’s murder. The key word here is brutalality: back-to-back vicious, bloody battles…and that’s about all the flick offers. The performances are mundane: Momoa sometimes sounds like a valley boy, although Rose McGowan is fun. The plot is useless, but at least the noise and bloodletting are non-stop. Nothing original, spectacular or special…just merciless mayhem.

Gay Angle: If Momoa’s your type, there’s plenty of his weight-lifter body.
