Logo is celebrating 30 years of some of the greatest senior citizens to ever grace our TV sets. There’s a drag connection in there some place, with past Drag Race girls dressing up as Blanch, Dorthy, Sophia, and Rose – but more importantly they are showing 30 hours of the Golden Girls in a back-to-back marathon.
Additional details below:
Just when you thought “The Golden Girls” couldn’t get any gayer… get ready to see Sophia, Dorothy, Rose and Blanche as you’ve never seen them before when stars of Logo’s hit “RuPaul’s Drag Race” don “Golden Girls” drag to host 30 hours of “Golden Girls” episodes. Logo’s ’30 Isn’t a Drag’ marathon celebrates 30 years of the most fabulous foursome in TV history beginning on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 12pm ET and running through Sunday, September 13 at 6pm ET.
Fresh off of their hotly buzzed about appearance with Miley Cyrus at the 2015 MTV VMAs, the ’30 Isn’t a Drag’ marathon features “RuPaul’s Drag Race” favorites Shangela as Sophia, Delta Work as Dorothy, Pandora Boxx as Rose, and Willam as Blanche. The queens will be serving side eye, fierce friendship and lots of cheesecake as they put their own spin on “The Golden Girls,” dish on their favorite moments, and introduce 30 of the most unforgettable episodes of the seminal sitcom.
The 30 memorable “Golden Girls” episodes, as selected by Logo, will air back-to-back during the ’30 Isn’t a Drag’ marathon and then repeat. Selected episodes include guest appearances George Clooney, Bob Hope, Julio Iglesias and Meschah Taylor, in addition to everyone’s favorite ladies. The Emmy-Award winning sitcom “The Golden Girls” ran from 1985-1992 and starred Estelle Getty as Sophia Petrillo, Bea Arthur as Dorothy Zbornak, Betty White as Rose Nylund, and Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux.
The anniversary takeover will continue online as well, with exclusive behind-the-scenes content featuring the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alums in full Golden Girls-drag on both Logo and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Facebook and twitter accounts. What do Willam and Blanche have in common? What’s Delta Work’s favorite cheesecake flavor? There’ll be that and plenty of tid-bits for fans to gag on all weekend long as we thank “The Golden Girls” for being a friend.
