Netflix has given the reigns to the Wachowski’s for a new episodic action/sci-fi experience and I’m really trying to stay positive.
There are a number of cards stacked against the once-invincible film makers, but after Speed Racer, the last 2 Matrix Movies, and most recently Jupiter Ascending, I’m just not too sure what to expect when all twelve (12) episodes of their new show premieres Friday, June 5.
“Sense8” becomes a pretty mundane, chaotic soap opera, following the lives of its various characters without doing much to advance what binds them. Yes, Naveen Andrews (whose connection to “Lost” is clearly no accident, given Netflix’s data-driven approach) gradually begins appearing and dropping cryptic clues, but this show is so tiresomely put together, it’s enough to make one long for the second season of “Heroes.”
Until then, try and stay excited and take a look at each of the 8 character’s back stories, and watch as they start to realize they are sharing an existence… or something.
