Learn about getting your business LGBT-BE certified at RBA event Thursday night

Almost 1/3 of the Fortune 500 recognizes the LGBT-BE certification.

Thursday night, the Richmond Business Alliance is giving local LGBTQ businesses the chance to learn from a national business group at a free event, but registration is required.

The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) is a supporter of LGBT businesses and an advocate for diversity and inclusion. They provide opportunities and a platform for businesses to successfully connect and partner with LGBT suppliers, collaborate with other LGBT-owned/friendly businesses, get discounts with various organizations, and police LGBT-inclusive policies.

Founded in 2002, the NGLCC has a history of helping LGBT-business community throughout the country. Hosting events in conjunction state-based organizations, they’ve has been able to extend their support to more businesses and provide opportunity for individuals in the LGBT business community.

One such individual is Phil Giorgianni, who’s has been a member of the NGLCC since 2010. He began his career at the Mortgage Bankers Association where he soon found ways to revolutionize the way companies participate using branded sponsorship.

Throughout his career he has met with the likes of former Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush. Currently Giorgianni assists LGBT-owned businesses in becoming certified with the LGBT Business Enterprise (LGBT-BE).

Tomorrow is your chance to meet Giorgianni, who will be speaking at the NGLCC Roadshow, presented by Capital One.

The event will focus on the LGBT-BE certification, helping LGBT-owned businesses understand the process, the requirements, and the benefits certification can have on a business.

According to Richmond Business Alliance board member Bary Hausrath, “Almost 1/3 of the Fortune 500 recognizes the LGBT-BE certification, including several large corporations with strong presences in the Richmond metro area.”

As the only affiliate in central Virginia, The Richmond Business Alliance (RBA) is the best gateway for businesses to become LGBT-BE certified. Membership with the RBA allows for businesses to waive certain fees associated with certification as well as provide assistance with the process as well.

The program will be held tomorrow, January 8th, from 4:30-6 at the Capital One campus in Goochland.

The event is free and will be followed up with a reception featuring heavy appetizers and wine/beer, all provided by Capital One.

In order to get pre-clearance from security guests must register here by 5 p.m. today (Wednesday). Guests are asked to arrive early and with photo I.D. in order to streamline the event. Those who register will receive a follow-up email containing directions and parking information.
