“KD has been great – they contact us late February every year and we get really excited to get the event together,”said Jim Slattery, President of BHS. His group helps distribute grants to DC and area non-profit groups that benefit HIV/AIDS and other LGBT causes.
As in years past, Kings Dominion Management has also played a role in helping promote the event. They are participating in the City’s Pride Over Richmond #RVAPride project, as well as a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales go toward BHT and specifically to Richmond’s own GCCF. “This year, the Richmond Gay Community Foundation has joined the effort to broaden awareness for the BHT event among Central Virginia residents,” said John Taylor, Director of Marketing & Sales for Kings Dominion. “We are confident that with the added support, this private event will continue to grow and flourish.”
Chicago DJ Steve Henderson will return to provide beats for your dancing feet in what is sure to be one of the best dance parties on the east coast.
Also, for the first time this year, and what is normally against park rules, guests will be able to buy and consume alcohol in all open areas of the park, as opposed to only around the dance party like years past.
Tickets for this event are separate from normal park passes – those with season passes will still have to buy tickets that are specific to the event. You can purchase event tickets here through the Kings Dominion website – enter “GAYNIGHT’ (all in caps!) in the promo code line and it will recognize the ticket.
The folks at Brother Help Thyself, a DC-based HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ support group are looking for a few good folks to fund. The group, which honored GayRVA with a business award back in 2014, organizes King’s Dominion’s annual Gay Days event every September at the park just north of RVA.
