God-Des & She return to Richmond this Tuesday at Babes of Carytown. The powerhouse campy duo with songs like “Lick It” look forward to bringing hip-hop-infused alt-rock back to the River City.
As lesbian artists, they are not feeling a weight of responsibility to be advocates, as it’s what they do naturally. She says God-Des has always been an advocate and activist for gay rights, getting signatures and making petitions since she was little.
“God-Des’s music is a vehicle for what she believes in and how she wants things to change,” She says.
She says she reaches people with her voice and God-Des “lays down the law.”

Inspiration for their music comes from everywhere – the duo is always looking to the world around them as a constant source. With an eclectic range of musical variety they also credit fan stories as inspiration.
The group’s symbiotic relationship allows them to create music organically and naturally and the two have melded their styles together to create their current sound. They both are involved in the creative process and their similar styles lead to the sounds we hear on their albums.
