Record Store Day, a national event that asks folks to come out and support your local record store, is dominating Richmond this weekend. There are lots of other events to enjoy as well, take a gander below and make sure to enjoy your weekend!

Come one, come all to S23′s Cabinet of Curiosi-TEASE! APRIL 19th, 8pm at Studio Two Three! The Cabinet of Curiosi-TEASE, produced by the Richmond Burlesque Revue, is a benefit for Studio Two Three, Richmond’s nonprofit community print shop. With host Buster Britches, the Creepshow Casanova, this sexy freak show will feature the stage antics of some of the East Coast’s biggest names in burlesque, including Deepa de Jour, the Garter Snaps, Bitsy Buttons, Melody Magpie, Siren Sivette, and Jendetta. Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite sideshow freaks or carnival characters. Also featuring the musical stylings of the Vulgar Bulgars, tarot readings by Aijung Kim, a kissing booth, a raffle of tattoo art and hand-pulled prints and a sideshow photobooth!
General admission $10 in advance, $15 at the door
VIP Admission $30 in advance, $35 at the door; includes admission to event, two drink tickets, ten raffle tickets and two photobooth pictures.

The needle drops on Saturday, April 20, as WRIR FM 97.3 partners with five local, independent record stores to celebrate National Record Store Day!
Join us at Plan 9 Music, Deep Groove, Steady Sounds, Vinyl Conflict and Turnstyle for live music, DJs, and a scavenger hunt!

2pm – 4pm: Live acoustic performances from Dorthia Cottrell (Windhand), Matt Conner (RPG), and Matt Seymour (Pedals on our Pirate Ships)

11am – 4pm: WRIR DJs Michael Murphy (of Mellow Madness) and Michael Miracle (of The Lotus Land Show)
4pm – 6pm: Live performances and 7″ release celebration with Hoax Hunters & Snowy Owls

10am – 2pm: WRIR DJs Jamie Lay (of Love & Other Crimes) and Mr. Atavist (of Sunrise Ocean Bender) spin a sidewalk party out front
Turnstyle (102 W. Broad St.) ~
12pm – 6pm: WRIR DJs Jesse Split and Joanna O (of Frequency) spin electronic music mix
Winner of the scavenger hunt will be rewarded handsomely with a prize that includes an exclusive RSD release from each record store (5 records total), a copy of Live at WRIR Vol. 1, concert tickets, and other WRIR swag! 2nd and 3rd place will also get some WRIR goodies. To win, just visit the WRIR DJs at each record store for a clue, get all 5 clues and take all 5 photos (with the same camera and featuring the same people in all), and take them to WRIR studios.
