Oh man, not gonna lie, we’re about to leave town to go the Bloody Beetroots up in DC at the 9:30 club. But we WILL BE BACK in time to catch Geneva Jacuzzi. Who is this Jacuzzi chick, you might ask your self, well, it’s time to embrace your gender variance, slap on some eye-shadow and slant dance the night away. See the video below:
Jacuzzi seems to me an impressive amalgamation of many classic and contemporary music sounds – it’s a little dissonant which might be hard for some ears, but I can’t help but dig the way she presents herself and her tunes. Plus, hot slave dudes make out while a drag queen looks on with bewildered amazement.
Still from her video, we’re pretty into it.
Hailing from LA and calling herself bedroom synth pop, Jacuzzi’s music is dream-like, but pretty abrasive in its structure. In a time when that 80′s sound is coming back hard, she takes that synth mix and turns it on its head… and dresses it in drag.
Her lyrics describe blood being thrown onto fire, clown-like machines in search of sadness and the raging monologues of future/past elemental beings. Her videos and live performances portray the story of a once abundant Self being shattered into a variety of other personas such as Dracula, Mime, Zygote, Rozbo, etc. all being played by Jacuzzi, and all cannibalizing-commodifying their rape revenge upon the idea of an original Self which is now lost if not mythical, somewhere in the Islands of the Jacuzzi.
