Gay electro-pop artist Daniel Robinson released his new single “Running With the Wolves” on Bandcamp this week, in preparation for his sophomore EP, Guesswork.
From Buffalo, NY Robinson received the 2012 John Lennon Songwriting award in the “Electronic” category. He was also named one of Music Connections Hot 100 Unsigned Artists. Robinson also acts as an activist for equal rights with involvement in The Human Right Campaign, FckH8 and the Buffalo Chapter of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way foundation.
At first listen, Robinson’s sound strongly resembles the likes of Owl City. While it is easy to write him off as another generic artists, another listen reveals surprisingly deeper lyrics such as “if you’re sleeping with the clones/I’m better sleepless on my own.”
Even though Robinson is an electro-pop artists, his acoustic songs put a better highlight on his lyrics while downplaying the repetitive chord structure that his songs tend to have.
His sophomore EP, Guesswork is set to release June 2013 and is available for pre-order now on Bandcamp.
