Who was really responsible for the Stonewall riots, the 1969 event which is considered the start of the fight for LGBTQ equality?
According to some, the trailer for an upcoming film about the riots, Stonewall, glosses over quite a few important people who happened to be at the Christopher Street bar that night.
All folks really have to go on right now is a trailer, but a main point of contention is the movie’s white male lead character, Trevor (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers), throwing a brick at police officers. The common belief is the first brick was actually thrown by a black transgender woman, Marsha P.Johnson.
