Local artist Nate King will be the focus of a gallery showing at Barcode this Friday. His photography and animation work has won him acclaim here in Richmond and nationally. Check out some of his work below, and head on out to Barcode Friday night and support a Richmond artist.
Nate King’s artistic career began at Virginia Commonwealth University where he studied Cinema and Philosophy. Independently, he explored experimental and traditional photography as well as an academic focus on screenwriting. In 2009 he won the Virginia Screenwriting competition for his original script BEST and interned at the Virginia Film Office.
Graduating from VCU in 2010, Nate completed an independent study in animation and alternative processing techniques. In 2012 he completed his first short animation, Monster Island, which was later selected for the 2013 Atlanta Shorts Fest.
Nate has worked on productions with The Food Network Channel (2011) as well a feature film for The Hallmark Channel (2013).
