Heading up to DC midweek? Educate yourself on some nightlife and vogue.
Madison Moore is a candidate in American Studies at Yale. Starting in next month he’ll be a faculty member in the Department of Theater and Dance at the University of Richmond.
Moore is coordinating “Marry The Night” – a scholarly take on queer nightlife at Nellie’s Sports Bar. But any nightlife discussion would not be complete without a DJ and voguing session.
At this mini-symposium, panelists will discuss topics ranging from a history of drag striptease in the 1920s and 30s to the politics of aging.
Marry The Night is Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Nellie’s Sports Bar, 900 U Street NW, Washington, DC. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at http://www.queernightlife.net.
Skinner is reminiscent of Julie Andrews and brings amazing style and grace to her role
