As America’s birthday approaches this Sunday, you’ve got a lot of choices this weekend.

On Friday, take a stroll down Broad Street for the First Friday Art Walk.  Head west to go dancing at Nations with DJ Felice or east to catch ICONS at Godfrey’s.

No tix to the Flying Squirrels?  You can still listen to the game and catch all the fireworks with a primo-view at the Gay Community Center of Richmond as they host their own community celebration on Saturday.  Bring some goodies to grill and you’re set.  The event starts at 7 p.m. at 1407 Sherwood Avenue.

Saturday night, it’s Boys Night Out at Godfrey’s, DJ Flashback at Babe’sClub Colours at 534, and surely a very patriotic Rocky Horror Picture Show at Movieland at midnight.

On Sunday, during the day, take a stroll through the beautiful Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden from 1-4 p.m. for free admission. In honor of Independence Day, the Garden invites visitors to don red, white and blue and bring the kids for children for music and other fun activities.

If you got your tickets, start your evening by taking in an all-American tradition with the Flying Squirrels at 6:30 p.m.Richmond’s Flying Squirrels are set to take on the Erie SeaWolves at The Diamond. After the game is completed make sure to stick around to enjoy the fireworks.

Colonial Downs celebrates Independence Day by hosting, Racing to the Stars and Stripes. The event has a multitude of fun activities that include horse racing, a concert by Susan Greenbaum and her band, juggler/magician Jonathan Austin will be performing, free ice cream, cartoons on the jumbotron, and for the grand finale, fireworks. The evening begins at a special time of 5 p.m. and continues after the fireworks final crash. Afterwards there will be an hour long “after party” in the parking lot.

For a night filled with a variety of music plan to attend the Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks at Dogwood Dell. Artists include Bak N Da Day, vocalist Rachel Leyco at 6:15 p.m., a Carillon concert at 6:45 p.m. and the Richmond Concert Band with patriotic melodies at 7:15 p.m. Once the music is completed and the sky has turned black fireworks are set to follow.

Round out your Sunday with a round of Karaoke at Barcode.
